when we were young…

writing with passion, living with vision and acting with intention

It’s raining boys!

January – the start of a new year, the beginning of many long, rainy days spent indoors and of course, new plans for the year ahead. Things have started off  rather…questionably? Jesse went back to work on Jan. 2 after Christmas Holidays and was laid off that same day.

And I was already going a little crazy with two boys in my house all day…

It’s been nice having Jess around but it has also thrown off any sense of routine that helps me get things done around the house and out and about. Days are so much more lax…which is nice now and then but everyday…it’s just there’s not as much get up and go motivation. Combine that with the whole part about no income and you get a bit of a discombobulated situation, or maybe just Virginia.

January also marks the month my Shae turns 2 years old. This boy is a bundle of enthusiasm and determination. He overwhelms me and makes me feel so proud in the same moment. His best friends are Jakob, Morgan (Morgy), Olivia (Livi) and Hannah.  He is passionate about boots and noses.

Shae and Olivia

Shae and Olivia

Oliver will be 8 months on Jan. 29. This chubber is all legs and has yet to really start eating solid food on a regular basis. His sweet nature is a joy to experience each and every day.

Both Shae and Oliver were sick as dogs with a nasty cold this whole past week and today are finally seeming their normal selves only crabbier. What does a parent do with themselves when the rain subsides for a bit – get outside! This family walk brought to you by, “let’s try to not go insane!” And bring the camera so that we can remember only what the lens captures.;)

And when the rain pours, this.

Or this…

I feel the need for my blog to not create a false sense of my reality. As pretty as I can make it look, I’m more into the “extra-terriorstial.”

And that’s about it here, folks. Happy playing inside!

  1. I love you. I’m so relieved you have the screaming moments too. My girl’s today was reduced to tears when: I closed the bathroom door instead of her, she had a hair in her mouth, her underwear was twisted, she got her shirt stuck on her ear, I didn’t let her use the huge sharp knife, I didn’t let her touch raw meat, just to name a few. Can’t wait for you to visit!

    • I find it so hard in those moments to try to empathize with how much these “little” things mean to them. That’s when I start talking to them like adults and trying to make them see the sense. Example: “Shae, I cannot help you this minute, I am washing dishes, see? So I obviously cannot help you right now understand?” Love you too!

  2. I love you both! Let’s build an ark and go somewhere warm…
